[RE] Feedback #1

14/5/2022

General update on the feedback: Well, seems like the small demo wasn't for naught, found out that currently as it stands, the project does have some ups and some downs respectively.

Feedback:

The positive aspects:

  • People really did seem to enjoy my assets and spritework
  • The menu UI was a nice touch and people liked the "world map" level selection
  • The shooting and effects that come with it were enjoyable
  • Players enjoyed the variety of weaponry
  • The idea of an independent movement/shooting/aiming system of a carriage and gun was more of a mixed bag but did stand out as a core aspect of the game

The negatives:

  • Movement was a bit unresponsive
  • Players were unable to tell how much damage they had dealt to the enemies
  • Enemy wasn't much of a threat
  • Obstacles were too numerous, easy to get stuck on

-> On to implementing changes and somewhat of a roadmap:

Currently working on implementing more levels, the movement has been fixed, it was pretty easy to fix the turning speed / reverse speed and such since my movement system is built upon scriptables (scriptable objects), since I only had to adjust a few parameters.

Next up will be modifying the UI, will have to update it a bit, I think that the UI having a single health bar is a bit lacking when it comes to "mech / tank" games

Also completing my work on a character selection / multiple char system, have fixed the multi-spawn issue and will try to implement it soon.

Peace out, o7
